Top Tips When Considering Aesthetic Treatments
The Art of Not Letting Your Beauty Cost More Than Your Money
Let’s face it – we live in an image-centric society where the number of followers we have on social media worries us more than the scary number on our credit card statement. The power of beauty, its halo effect and its impact on perceptions has been studied for centuries, and we’re still obsessed with what looks back at us in the mirror.
In 2017, us Brits spent a whopping £7.6 billion on beauty treatments and products, with this figure set to surpass £8 billion by 2021.
Considering this, it makes us shudder to question – how much money is being wasted on useless, ineffective and potentially dangerous treatments? How many people are being left out of pocket, with disappointing results and a lack of faith in non-invasive therapies?
An article by the Independent detailed that 67% of people would consider non-invasive anti-ageing, fat reduction and skin resurfacing treatments in order to obtain a youthful appearance.
With such a growing demand for aesthetic services, and a lack of regulation and licensing control in the industry , it is unsurprising that more and more sub-standard treatments from unqualified and inexperienced therapists are popping up in high-street ‘clinics’ across the country.
It can be incredibly difficult to distinguish the responsible establishments from the questionable pop-ups, and as a passionate and dedicated team with a bucket-load of experience and knowledge, we endeavour to support existing and prospective clients along every single step of their journey.
Our top three tips when considering aesthetic treatments of this kind are:
1. Do your research -and ask as many questions as you want!
It’s your face, your body, your skin and your appearance. Don’t let anyone talk you into having anything that you are not comfortable or happy with. Read reviews, research methods and equipment, look up the therapist’s qualifications if you feel you need to. You will never regret knowing too much about the person or company whose hands you are about to put your aesthetic future into.
2. Don’t be tempted by a bargain deal
Remember: buy cheap, buy twice.– There is a huge disparity with pricing for aesthetic treatments across the industry. Always, always remember the law of demand. Fantastic results are in high demand, and so they cost more. Cheap treatments often mean cheap results (which usually need fixing), where salons are focussed on getting as many people through the door rather than focussing on repeat bookings from the same clients. Don’t get ripped off, but don’t be naïve when it comes to pricing.
3. Trust your gut
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.- If you’re being promised that 20 years will be wiped off your face after one hour of having magic cream holistically rubbed into your skin, then chances are you’re going to be left bitterly disappointed. A true professional will be honest, realistic and manage your expectations, whilst working with an effective treatment plan to achieve the desired results.
